Alpine Village

Tonight we went to the Alpine Village at Trinity Baptist Church. This is the third year we have gone and every year we thoroughly enjoy ourselves. They transform their gym into a winter wonderland with village shops that have activities, crafts, and small holiday gifts for the children. They also have a live nativity, a Village Chapel, a model train, Santa Claus, puppet shows, and an area for children to play in fake snow. This is all FREE to anyone who wants to come as long as you make a reservation ahead of time. Our reservation was from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Ally the snowmanClaire the snowmanWe decided to see Santa first since the line was so long last year. This year they had revamped Santa making it much more efficient to visit with him.We took the elevator upstairs and this is what we saw when we stepped out--Kit Kittredge (An American Girl doll for those of you who don't know). Ally was soooo excited!!Then we rounded the corner and Claire went CRAZY when she saw Elmo!!Then into see Santa (no wait this year)!! This Santa amazes the kids--he wears an earpiece and the person in the hallway radios to him telling him the child's name and what he/she wants for Christmas. So as the child enters the room, Santa is calling them by name!!This is as close as Claire would get to Santa!!Ally on Santa's lap

Ally went from shop to shop making different things--here she is making a gingerbread man cookie.

Here was the highlight of the night for both of the girls--playing in the snow!!
The girls were COVERED in snow!! By the time we got home I was finding snow in their hairbows, in their pants, and even in Claire's diaper. It was everywhere!!

We ran into the 3 wise men as we were headed to the live nativity. Ally just had to get a picture with them!!Our last stop was the live nativity--what a great way to end the night!! Such a sweet reminder of why we celebrate Christmas--the birth of baby Jesus, the Savior of the world. As we were watching the room was absolutely silent--Claire points to Joseph and says, "Daddy" and then points to Mary and says, "Mama." Finally she points to baby Jesus and says, "Awww!!" It was adorable!
