MOPS Survey

Today was the start of a new year of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). I attend the MOPS group at Advent Pres where I've been a member for a year now. It's a great group of ladies! We have guest speakers, crafts, playdates, great food, etc. and meet every other Friday (Ally and Claire go to Moppets during this time). This year's theme is Adventures in Mothering. Our steering committee has a lot of great stuff planned for this year--including a special section in our newletter featuring several members each month. 1. What is your full name? (first, middle, maiden, married) Were you named after anyone? Rebekah (Becky) Joy Patterson Lollar. I was named after Rebekah in the Bible.

2. When is your birthday? (month/day) August 1

3. Where were you born? (city, state or country) Senecca, South Carolina

4. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you "grew up"? a teacher

5. Did you go to college or learn a skill? If so, what college and what skill? Yes, Union University. I have a BS in Learning Foundations and a Masters of Education.

6. What is your husband's name? Brent

7. How long did you and your husband date? 3 years

8. When is your anniversary? How many years have you been married? June 26, 1999--9 years

9. How many children do you have? (Please list names and ages) 2--Ally (4 on Sep. 19) and Claire (1 on Oct. 10)

10. If your children are in school, where do they attend? Ally goes to preschool at Ellendale Baptist

11. How many places have you lived? List them, please. five--1) Toccoa, GA 2) Bartlett, TN 3) Jackson, TN (in college) 4) Bells, TN (in college after I got married) 5) Arlington, TN (now)

12 If you're not a native of Memphis, what brought your family to Memphis? My dad got a job teaching at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.

13. What activities do you do during the week? (Soccer, church activities, hobby) church (Ellendale Baptist), church choir, bow making, blogging, Ally takes dance (ballet and tap) on Tuesdays, Ally goes to preschool and Claire goes to MDO at Ellendale Baptist on Tues/Thurs, and watching Alabama football on Saturdays during football season--Roll tide!

14. Do you work outside the home? If so, where? No

16. What is your favorite food? chocolate

17. What is your favorite local restaurant? Jim and Nick's BBQ

18. What is your favorite candy bar? Peanut M&M's

19. What is your favorite color? red

20. Have you ever bungee jumped? Do you want to? no--no way!

21. Have you ever been in a car accident? Yes, but not with me driving. I was in 2 minor fender benders in high school--ironically both times I was riding with someone to go perform for my Theater Production class.

22. What is your natural hair color? Eye color? light blonde. green.

23. Have you ever traveled outside the U.S.A.? If so, where? Yes, British Columbia, Canada; Toronto, Canada; St. John; St. Maarten; St. Thomas; Bahamas; Bermuda.

24. Do you have a special talent? (tap dancer, scrapbooker, piano player, etc.) I sing, dance, and play the piano. I also like to scrapbook but can't find the time to do so (that's why I've started blogging).

25. What are your three favorite tv shows? The Office, Jon & Kate Plus 8, and Heroes.

26. Who do you admire? My parents--they did an amazing job raising me and my brother in a God-centered home. I pray that I can do the same for my girls.

27. What is your favorite season? (spring, summer, fall, winter) fall/winter--I love this time of the year and the activities and holidays that come with it.

28. What is your favorite Bible verse? And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

29. What family activities do you do in Memphis? (Movies, parks, Children's Museum) Memphis Zoo and Playground of Dreams in Arlington.

30. What do you think is the best kept secret in Memphis? (Park, festival, event,
restaurant)
Arlington in April--it's a fabulous festival in Depot Square in downtown Arlington the last Saturday in April. There are over 100 vendors, awesome food, and tons of activities for the kids.

31. What is a quick funny or embarrassing story of your's? When I was in Youth Choir we were on a Youth Choir Tour and during a practice I fell into the orchestra pit!

I'll have to check out that Arlington in April thing--sounds interesting--does it cost anything? I wish I could find the time to do a MOPS thing. I'm guessing it is during the day, though? Interesting survey! Thanks for sharing...

No, Arlington in April does not cost anything to get in. Yes, my MOPS meets every other Friday from 9:15-noon.
